“Nothing lasts forever.” Leo to Zeus, regarding the hitherto endless summer of Olympia.
“Those who rule a land are responsible for it.” Especially when things go wrong.
“So we’re going to die, just as I should have died with everyone else, two centuries ago. “ Homecoming, by Sue Ann Bowling. This is Marna , speaking to one of her tinerals as she realizes that the life-support system of the satellite has failed. Tinerals resemble feathered monkeys with wings, can fly as juveniles but are ground-bound as adults, and after millennia of selective breeding sing in harmony with each other or with other singers.
To other readers of this blog, Sue Ann Bowling died yesterday after a long battle with cancer. We, her family, hope to see the publication of a trilogy of novels she left. Her final quote is very poignant, given the circumstances.

So sorry for your loss. Sue Ann was a brilliant writer. The worlds she created were down to minute details. Incredible. So happy to hear you will be publishing her work. She did mention her concern for her work in a blog post a few weeks ago. She was greatly respected among our group and her insight will be greatly missed.

My condolences. Although I only “met” Sue Ann through WeWriWa, I looked forward to her snippets and her selfless support of all of us. She has indeed impacted so many and she will be missed.
When Sue Ann told me she liked one of my characters, I glowed for a week. When she found a problem or two in my snippets, I scrambled to fix. I respected her opinion because of the strength of her work. I will miss her.

I hadn’t done Weekend Warriors in a while but I always remembered Sue Ann…her comments always had such a unique voice and perspective. She was one of the staples of the meme that made it so unforgettable, and so shall she be unforgotten. RIP.
