The double wedding ring is a classic pattern of the early 20th Century. My parents had a double wedding ring quilt on their bed, though it was coming unstitched by the time I inherited it. Sadly, it was one of the things I lost in the fire. This one is a slight variant on the usual pattern, in shades of gray.

That is beautiful! And I just got a new set of lovely soft sheets – grey was the only color they had that would “coordinate” with my basically pink, rose, (sometimes burgundy or blues), decor – white walls, cherry wood finished furniture – (they were on sale). However, I can’t use quilts or comforters, etc, on the bed – hubby sleeps under “just a sheet” until the temp gets below 50 degrees (or whatever feels truly “cold” to him!) and still has to have terry towels made into pillowcases!!! I, on the other hand, have found the new cuddly blankets to be my “sleep-savors”! I wrap up in one, especially in the winter and then get under the sheet! My “old” feet especially appreciate these blankies – I even have throws that I wrap my feet in when they are too cold to let me sleep!
My paternal grandmother was a quilter (of necessity) and her “Friendly Neighbors” club quilted as they gossiped and enjoyed iced tea and cookies . . . I remember playing under the dining table with my siblings and cousins as the ladies worked on the quilt stretched on the frame set up above the table. I wanted that quilting frame but found out just recently that my brother had given it away . . . I waited too long to climb up in the shed at the farm and get it! And I have never even pieced a quilt anyway!!!! Don’t like “big projects”! DO want to use the few old favorite dresses I have saved to make quilted place mats however!
Beautiful and subtle both.
