Welcome back to War’s End. Ginger is trying to free Kelty, who’s just said that mostly it’s his clothing that’s stuck, not him. Madame Irela is sitting on a log, Bounce is off hunting for Audi, and with Michelle asleep Coralie’s survival. training is kicking in. If you want more details, click “Index” above, and then “Six Sentence Sunday.” And by the way, Mik is Coralie’s big brother.
Kelty sighed as Ginger cut loose the back of his hair, then carefully wiggled out of his jacket and jumpsuit. Coralie looked away, catching only a glimpse of silky, close-fitting briefs. No worse than Mik’s loincloth, she told herself firmly, and modesty was the least of their problems.
“Might as well shave my head,” Kelty grumbled, feeling the back of his head as he walked over to a carryall behind the medical kit and pulled out a pair of shorts and a light shirt. “I hope that insect repellent works.”
“We’re going to get eaten alive if it doesn’t,” came Audi’s voice.
That gets everyone who was on the courier initially, but they’re a long way from being out of the jungle yet. And it wasn’t everyone who was on the courier just before they found themselves tumbling through the jungle.
One happy announcement: my first book, Homecoming, is the Monday topic for the Science Fiction and Fantasy reading group at the library.

Hard situation to be in, l love your characterisation.
Thanks. Don’t you love putting characters in a hard place?
Thank you for finally freeing that poor man! 😀 I’m really enjoying these snippets.
They’re not home yet, by several chapters.
I’m sure it isn’t the same as her brother in a loin cloth at all. 😉 Glad Audi’s there now! (I hope Bounce knows this too.)
Bounce led Audi back, but at this point it’s just her voice they hear.
Wow, they are in a hard place. I enjoyed this so much. Can’t wait to see what happens next. 🙂
Gotta make things tough for my characters.
I was imagining Kelty as a stocky middle-aged chap, now I’m imagining him as a stocky middle-aged chap in Speedos. 🙂 Good fun.
He’s a former acrobat, so I’m doubtful about the stocky, but the middle-aged is right on.
I’m glad Kelty is loose finally! This group of beings has become quite real to me over the weeks so I wish them well! another excellent six…
I’m concentrating on a single plot line for SSS. If I ever get the trilogy out, this will be a minor bit.
Great characterization in this snippet. Well done. 🙂
Glad you like it.
I like his remark about shaving his head. Good six, Sue Ann.
He’s not happy right now. (Would you be, after being stuck to a tree for the better part of an hour?)
I take it a swarm of mosquitoes are about to appear? Good six!
Not mosquitoes, but some kind of flying insect that’s been around ever since Coralie was capable of noticing anything.
Always an interesting snippet as these characters struggle along. Wonder what kind of insects are about to appear? Oh dear!
They’ve been around all along. Coralie has to keep brushing them off the baby..
Yes, it definitely sounds like modesty is the least of their problems! Great snippet, Sue Ann.
They’re from very different backgrounds as far as bodily privacy taboos are concerned.
You make things tough for your character, but that’s the fun of it, right? Then you have the chance of writing them out of jam their in. lol Congratulations on Homecoming being the Monday topic at the library!! Exciting news!
Right!
Love his very “normal” grumbling, as if the situation isn’t extraordinary. And I’m so glad the library went well! That must have been an incredible experience for you. ;c)
To some extent it’s his way of dealing with the extraordinary situation.
I quite enjoy the simple, matter of fact way, they seem to be dealing with each challenge they encounter. It makes it easy to relate to your characters. Nicely done!
They all (except Madame Irela) have something in common.
I know that its far from over for them, but yay for Kelty being free finally. And I’m sure they appreciated that he had some extra clothes 🙂
Sorry, I am so late commenting.
It’s just getting started.
