Here’s another snippet from War’s End, still following Coralie. If you want more background, the index (above) includes links to all of the Six Sentence Sunday snippets. In this weeks snippet the pilot, glued by sticky vines to a tree trunk, is referring to Ginger’s medical kit.
“The way it’s packed, it should be all right. But I don’t know what’s what inside it, beyond the survival kit I added. Do you?”
Coralie shook her head, looking at Bounce. The little dog was sprawled on the ground, panting in the moist heat, but she couldn’t rest yet. “Bounce,” Coralie said, “find Ginger.”

Poor Bounce. It doesn’t seem like good conditions for the dog to be trying to find someone. I’m intrigued as to why they’re stuck to a tree!
Kelty’s the only one stuck, and rather chagrined about it. And hot and wet is actually fairly good conditions for fresh scent.
Have I mentioned how much I love this dog’s name? 🙂
Oh, I have fun naming my four-legged characters.
I like Bounce. Amazing how much a dog can add to a story. Great dialogue, too. Nice six, Sue. 🙂
A well-trained, telepathic dog is very helpful in a wilderness.
This sounds so realistic! There’s nothing like an adorable dog story to brighten one’s day!
I think realism helps the suspension of disbelief in science fiction.
Another great six Sue Ann…and I’m with everyone else…Love Bounce!!!
Thanks. I like Bounce, too.
I agree with the others…Bounce is adorable. Great six!
Have we no dog-haters here? (well, they probably wouldn’t like the trilogy anyway.)
The moral? Always know what’s inside your medical kit lol
But it’s Ginger’s medical kit. Kelty was just carrying it.
Fingers crossed Bounce succeeds! Well done. 🙂
Bounce has a lot ahead of her.
Thank goodness for Bounce! I hope they find something that vine won’t like so it’ll turn the pilot loose. Enjoyed this six, as always. 😀
Actually, the vine’s not sentient. They just need something to dissolve sap like super glue.
Yay for Bounce! (I realize I’m late to the Bounce-appreciation party but I *like* the dog…) another great six – I can really see the story unfolding as you describe it. I’m THERE.
Thanks. I try to imagine what things would look/feel/taste etc like to my characters. My editor’s agreed to take on the trilogy, so I hope I’ll be looking for a publisher soon.
I love Bounce. Great six!
Everybody loves Bounce–except when she’s misbehaving! (She actually first appeared as a wedding present, when she was just a puppy.)
Pet lover here and I just adore Bounce. She keeps going even in the worse conditions.
As I’ve said before, Bounce is based on my first Sheltie, Derry, with some traits from my Border Collie, Dot, and telepathy.
That dog’s getting a work out, but for good reason. Still living seeing the two of them work in tandem.
Her help is really needed right now.
Another great six! I have to agree with everyone and say that Bounce adds to the story. And it is such a cute name
Bounce is an invaluable part of their team!
All of the pocket herders are closely teamed with their people.
I agree with everyone else. Any snippet with Bounce is a good one. You’ve created something wonderful with him 🙂
I think all the pocket herders are great — but then I invented them.
