This follows last week’s post. Again, it is from the first book of my draft trilogy, Rescue Operation.
“Go ahead, Tod. Tell us what you overheard.”
“My old man had us help him drive some yearlings down to the horse fair in Tallgrass. Tammy ‘n me made ourselves scarce and kept our ears open soon’s we made sure the horses were all right. Bunch of those Confederation bastards were talking ’bout their slaving plans. Figure on bein’ here day after tomorrow.”

Sue, you have real talent and I applaud you! A great six!
Uh oh! Sounds like there’s gonna be a struggle ahead!
Trouble coming their way! As always, great six!
Fascinating six, Sue Ann. What does it all mean?
In a way I’m exploring the fact that one side’s “freedom fighter” is often the other side’s “terrorist.” Tod’s going to be around for all 8 years of the Trilogy, but this is how he starts out.
Great! It definitely makes me want to keep reading. Nice job!
Sounds like some world building going on in this set up. I’ll be back for more.
Enjoyed your six….definately makes me wondering what’s ahead 🙂
It’s a simple six, but the fact that we’re talking about what Todd overheard and that it has to do with slaving plans is a GREAT hook. Excellent!
Interesting character and setting development here.
